The country hotel Muxima, a place with an exotic name that comes from the African language, was created with love by Sofia and Jorge. Their deep connection to the African world, with its original tradition and earthy aesthetic, is reflected in every corner of the hotel. Muxima means “heart” in the Umbunda language, spoken by a Bantu people group in Angola. The idea behind the Muxima was to create an extraordinary and unconventional place in this magnificent part of Portugal that expresses a deep spiritual connection to Africa. The rooms at the Muxima have names like Krabi, Citrana, Zammour, Mangalore, Sotouboua, Coba and Chaouen, and are decorated with mad love – Mexican ceilings, Moroccan lanterns, Indian textiles and earth-colored “tadelakt” in the bathrooms create a harmonious atmosphere. A place that just bubbles with the magic of the African lifestyle. Perfect to leave everyday life behind.
